This internship report was carried out within the scope of the Professional Training Internship of the Master's Degree in Sports Sciences, Exercise and Health branch, of the University of Beira Interior, which took place at Crefis-Centro Reabilitação Física, Lda., in the period between September 2024 and May 2025. This document aims to highlight the work carried out during the internship, within the scope of the role of Physical Exercise Technician, taking into account the defined objectives regarding professional intervention for people of various age groups. A research initiation project was also developed that aimed to evaluate and relate functional performance, assessed through the FMS®-Functional Movement Screen, with different components of physical fitness, namely muscular resistance strength, flexibility and balance, in physically active women, aged between 40 and 55 years old, who regularly attended the Crefis gym. The main results indicated that most participants presented good quality of functional movement, with an average FMS® score above the cut-off point associated with injury risk. However 33% of the sample obtained a score equal to or below 14, highlighting the importance of individualized monitoring in exercise prescription. A significant positive correlation was observed between functional performance and muscular endurance, particularly lower-limb strength (Squat Test), which explained more than 60% of the variation in the FMS® Total Score. Upper-limb strength (Push-up Test) was also found to be associated with functional movement.
