Abstract(s)
This dissertation is part of the curricular unit entitled Internship of the Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The work is divided into two chapters: the first refers to the research work, the elaboration of a microbiological chart of a clinical analysis laboratory, and the second describes my experience obtained during the internship carried out in a community pharmacy. Antibiotics are a group of drugs used to treat infections caused by bacteria, with bactericidal or bacteriostatic effects. Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop the ability to survive or grow despite being exposed to antibiotics intended to eliminate them. Antibiotics save lives, but whenever they are used, they can contribute to the development and spread of antibiotic resistance. Improving antibiotic use, including reducing unnecessary use, can help prevent resistance from increasing. Therefore, a microbiological chart was created to verify the resistance profile of certain strains in the community, comparing it with other data published at the same time. Through the results obtained, it was verified which antibiotics could be used as a first line of treatment and what future studies could be carried out. The second chapter refers to the internship in community pharmacy, carried out at the Galeno pharmacy, in Escalos de Baixo, between September 13, 2021 and January 28, 2022. This component describes the technical skills developed within the pharmaceutical reality, as well as the operation, organization and management of the pharmacy. It is also revealed the lived experience and the knowledge acquired during the performance of the tasks.
