Abstract(s)
This report is composed of two sections. Section A describes the research analysis of the efects of hypertension treatment during pregnancy. Section B reports field work in a community pharmacy. The aim of the study described in section A is the analysis of therapeutic effects in pregnancy hypertension. This study was driven by the need to further assess the risk-benefit ratio of the use of specific therapeutic groups during pregnancy and evaluate potential maternal and fetal implications. To this end, a summary of related data was described and two meta-analyses were conducted. Meta-analyses were used to evaluate the existence of an association between the type of anti-hypertensive drugs used during pregnancy and the potential risk of newborns with an Apgar score below 7 at 5 minutes. Data from six randomised controlled clinical trials were used to perform the meta-analyses looking at the effects of hidralazine and labetalol compared to other anti-hypertensive drugs. Direct comparisons between the different sets of drugs do not allow any conclusions to be drawn regarding an increased risk of Apgar <7. In terms of Apgar score, the choice of antihypertensive drug was irrelevant. Section B describes the field work developed for a total of 800 hours in the community pharmacy Farmácia do Rio, Covilhã. This report describes the pharmacy site, available equipment, technical board, regulations, internal procedures, pharmaceutical counseling for dispensing medication and other important concepts learned and developed during the training period in community pharmacy.
