Abstract(s)
There is a large influence by the mining industry in Portugal, not only on a historical level, but also because of their greatly representation nowadays. Mines are a sector of multiple hazards and the mining industry is considered an activity associated to the risk of traumatic injury. The prevention of these risks becomes highly required. In this perspective, the mining industry is a fertile area in regards to the evaluation of factors that reduce risk and increase safety, a practice that should be applied to all activities, not only to mining. Thus, it is essential, as a first step, to characterize the error inherent to the accidents, as well as the issues related to safety culture. In a further analysis, the different variables that contribute to the etiology of accidents will be verified, either at an individual level or at an organizational level. The purpose of this paper is to collect and summarize different published articles and answer the questions presented. In the methodology, keywords will be used in search of scientific articles in the attached databases.
