Abstract(s)
Esta investigação tem o objetivo de aprofundar o conhecimento sobre a visão que os
professores possuem dos seus diretores e a eficácia da sua equipa do conselho pedagógico,
tendo em conta as funções deste órgão, tal como definidas pelo Decreto Lei n.º 75/2008, que
define o enquadramento legal das escolas públicas portuguesas, caracterizando a forma como
os professores percecionam a sua liderança e como avaliam a eficácia do trabalho em equipa.
Além disso, esta pesquisa pretende também analisar uma possível relação entre as duas
variáveis. É sabido que o normativo supracitado trouxe desafios à escola e principalmente à
sua liderança. Se a função do líder é dinamizar um grupo ou uma organização, tornando-a
capaz de estimular o seu próprio crescimento de acordo com a sua missão ou projeto comum,
então as equipas de trabalho configuram-se como elementos fundamentais para a
concretização do sucesso organizativo.
Assim sendo, a presente investigação, de natureza descritiva-correlacional, assumiu os
seguintes objetivos: identificar as perceções dos professores sobre a liderança do seus
diretores nas diferentes escolas; analisar a influência das variáveis, idade, género, tempo no
exercício da função docente e ciclo de ensino que os professores lecionam; analisar a
perceção dos professores do conselho pedagógico sobre a eficácia das equipas de trabalho e
analisar a relação entre as perceções sobre liderança e sobre a eficácia do trabalho em
equipa, desenvolvido pelos professores do conselho pedagógico.
A amostra final foi constituída por 50 professores, 64% do sexo feminino e 36% do sexo
masculino, e 52% com idades entre os 41 e os 50 anos. Entre os docentes que participaram
neste estudo, 20 pertenciam ao conselho pedagógico. Este trabalho de investigação realizouse
em três escolas diferentes: uma que recebe alunos desde o pré-escolar até ao terceiro
ciclo de ensino e as outras duas que lecionam o terceiro ciclo e o ensino secundário.
Os resultados obtidos indicaram que a opinião dos professores sobre os seus diretores é
positiva. As dimensões nas quais houve maior consenso entre docentes referem-se à
administração e gestão financeira e à relação com os pais e comunidade. As áreas em que a
visão dos professores é menos positiva são “gestão de pessoas” e “resolução de problemas e
tomadas de decisões". No que se refere a estes resultados foram encontradas diferenças
significativas de opinião entre professores, dependendo do género, tempo de serviço e ciclo
de ensino lecionado. Quanto às dimensões relacionadas com a eficácia, as melhor pontuadas
referem-se à experiência do trabalho em equipa – social e ao rendimento da equipa –
económica. A dimensão considerada menos relevante refere-se à reputação da equipa. Não se
verificou relação estatisticamente significativa entre as perceções dos professores sobre a
liderança dos seus diretores e a eficácia das equipas.
The aim of this research work is to deepen the knowledge about teachers’ opinion about their school directors and the effectiveness of their team at the Pedagogic Council, taking on account this council’s functions, as defined by the Decree Law 75/2008, which defines the legal framework of the Portuguese schools, characterizing the way teachers perceive their leadership, how they evaluate the effectiveness of team work. Besides this, this investigation also intends to study a possible relation between these two variables. It is known that the above-mentioned law brought challenges to schools and especially to their leaderships. If the role of the leader is to drive a group or an organisation, making it able to stimulate its own growth accordingly to its mission statement and common project, it also implies that teams are equally fundamental for achieving organisational success. Thus, the present investigation, of descriptive and correlational nature, assumed the following objectives: identifying teachers’ perceptions about their directors’ leadership in the different schools; analysing the influence of the variables, age, gender, length of service and the school level they teach; analysing the perception of the teachers that belong to the Pedagogic Council about the effectiveness of the work teams and analysing the relation between the perceptions of leadership and the effectiveness of the team work developed by the teachers on the Pedagogic Council. The sample was composed of 50 participants, 64% women and 36% men, 52% of them with ages between 41 and 50 years old. Among the teachers that participated in the study 20 belonged to the Pedagogic Council. This research work was carried out in three different schools: one that receives students form pre-school to lower secondary education and the other two that provide instruction to lower and higher secondary levels. The obtained results pointed out that the teachers have a positive opinion about their directors. The dimensions in which there was more consensus among the teachers are related to administration and financial management and to the relationship with parents an community. The areas in which teachers’ perception is less positive are “people management” and “problem solving, and decision making”. In what refers to these results, significant differences could be found in the opinion of teachers depending on the gender, length of service and the education level taught by them. As for the dimensions related to effectiveness, the ones that received the best scores are related to the experience of teamwork – social and to the efficiency of the team- economical. The dimension considered less relevant is the one that refers to team reputation. No statistically significant relationship was found between the perceptions of teachers on the leadership of the directors and the effectiveness of teams.
