Abstract(s)
A presente investigação objetiva o estudo do conflito interparental e da iniciativa de
crescimento pessoal numa população universitária, incluindo a relação entre ambos os
construtos. O conflito interparental é um fenómeno que impacta negativamente a faixa
etária dos jovens adultos, ao nível do sucesso académico, bem-estar psicológico e social
(Gouveia, 2013). Este fenómeno assume importância na compreensão do processo
desenvolvimental dos jovens adultos pelo que existe uma associação entre os conflitos
interparentais e implicações negativas no desenvolvimento dos filhos (Mota & Matos,
2013). A iniciativa de crescimento pessoal é um construto que deve ser considerado à
luz dos processos desenvolvimentais, ambientais, sociais e intencionais (Pedro & Silva,
2019), pelo que respeita à necessidade constante de autoaperfeiçoamento e
envolvimento em novas experiências, bem como de resiliência. (Robles, 2018). Os
dados para a concretização deste estudo foram recolhidos através de um protocolo de
recolha desenvolvido no âmbito do Projeto VIOLÊNCIA 360º, promovido por docentes
do DPE-UBI. O presente estudo contou com 815 participantes, estudantes do ensino
superior. Com recurso à The Children Perception of Interparental Conflict foi possível
analisar os componentes do conflito interparental e através da Escala de Iniciativa de
Crescimento Pessoal II foi possível avaliar as diferentes dimensões do construto. Os
resultados evidenciam que o género feminino perceciona maiores níveis de conflito
interparental comparado com o género masculino apresentando valores mais elevados
na dimensão ameaça; filhos de pais divorciados ou separados indicam maiores níveis
de conflito comparativamente aos filhos de pais casados ou em união de facto
indicando maiores níveis nas dimensões Propriedades do conflito e Ameaça; o género
feminino apresenta maior iniciativa de crescimento pessoal em relação ao género
masculino, apresentando maior prevalência em todas as subescalas; os participantes
que têm um relacionamento íntimo apresentaram maiores níveis de iniciativa de
crescimento pessoal comparativamente aos participantes que não têm um
relacionamento e existe uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre o conflito
interparental e a iniciativa de crescimento pessoal. A finalizar estes resultados são
discutidos à luz da pesquisa bibliográfica efetuada e retiradas implicações.
The present investigation aims to study the beliefs about interparental conflict and the iniciative of personal growth in a university population, including the relationship between constructs. Interparental conflict is a phenomenon that negatively impacts the age group of young adults, in terms of academic success, psychological and social wellbeing (Gouveia, 2013). This phenomenon is important in understanding the developmental process of young adults, so there is an association between interparental conflicts and negative implications for the development of children (Mota & Matos, 2013). The initiative of personal growth is a construct that should be considered in the light of developmental, environmental, social and intentional processes (Pedro & Silva, 2019),so it respects the constant need for self-improvement and involvement in new experiences and resilience (Robles, 2018). The data for the implementation of the same were collected through a data collection protocol developed under the VIOLENCE 360º Project, promoted by teachers of dpeUBI. The present study included 815 participants, higher education and polytechnic students. Using The Children Perception of Interparental Conflict, it was possible to analyze the components of interparental conflict through the perception of children and, through the Personal Growth Initiative Scale II it was possible to evaluate the different dimensions of the construct. Through the bibliographic research and statistical analysis performed it was possible to conclude that: the female gender perceptions higher levels and interparental conflict compared with the male gender presenting higher values in the threat dimension; children of divorced or separated parents indicate higher levels of conflict compared to the children of married parents or in a de facto union indicating the levels in the dimensions of the properties of conflict and threat; the female gender has a greater initiative of personal growth in relation to the male gender with higher prevalence in all subscales; participants who have an intimate relationship showed higher levels of personal growth initiative compared to participants who do not have a relationship and there is a statistically significant relationship between interparental conflict and the personal growth initiative.
