Abstract(s)
The main subject relies on a proposal for the reabilitation of Bairro do Alto da Cova da Moura, representing one of many cases of illegal neighborhoods considered critical, which developed mainly in the 50’s and 60’s of the 20th century by the consequences of urban growth and planning of the capital and Metropolitan Area of Lisbon. Its proliferation extended to the suburbs of Lisbon where some neighborhoods like Cova da Moura already have consolidated although they are not integrated in the urban tissue like it would be desirable. The challenge, beyond the legal matters, is the intervention on a particular urban reality where the urbans regulations are too restrictive, trying to regenerate its structure on a sustainable way to a better relation with all the urban intervenients. Therefore, an intervention project is suggested and witch its model can be applied to similar cases to achieve definite integration of these urban spaces.
