Abstract(s)
The present dissertation aims to study and analyze architectural space and comfort in the progression of aging, as well as the factors that influence this space, through a theoretical contextualization on the evolution of architecture for the elderly. It also examines factors such as light, color, materiality, and thermal and acoustic confort in inhabited spaces. These are elements of great importance in the design of architectural projects in general, but especially when the target audience is older. The study developed through a bibliographic analysis of various books and articles, with each part of the topic being progressively structured. Therefore, the methodology adopted for this dissertation involves the analysis of several case studies, each with a different architectural concept and approach, where a particular characteristic stands out in relation to the others. The case studies sought to include a diversity of strategies and typologies in order to better understand the experiences of people in older age groups in this type of accomodation and convey the various realities in Europe na the country.
