Esta dissertação aborda o tema dos Moinhos de Vento do Porto Santo enquanto
elemento definidor do lugar e da relação que existe com o envolvente ou contexto. O
principal objectivo é criar uma base teórica e interpretativa do lugar em que os moinhos de
vento estão inseridos para que seja possível intervir de forma mais coerente possível, no que
respeita aos valores culturais, às memórias e à história destes objectos arquitectónicos.
Como ponto de partida para este trabalho pressupõe-se a descrição dos factos
geográficos e históricos, para uma melhor interpretação do lugar num determinado tempo e
espaço. A consciência destes factos irá condicionar e definir a proposta de intervenção
arquitectónica e artística final.
This thesis considers the Porto Santo Windmills as a defining element of place and the relationship with the environment or context. The main objective is to create a theoretical and interpretative base about the place where windmills are embedded to be able to intervene with the most coherent way, in respect of cultural values, memories and the history of these architectural objects. The starting point for this work is intended to describe the facts of geography and history, for better interpretation of place in a particular time and space. Having all this conscience will condition and define the final architectural and artistic intervention.
