Abstract(s)
custos.
The Occupational Risks are a pertinent and current subject, but of great complexity. The Surgery Room is considered a high hospital risk service associated to a set of risks that may result in extra costs when accidents / work incidents occur. These risks can be seen in the current practice of health services, which is why it is important to carry out studies in the area of worker health that give visibility to the implementation of practices that offer safe conditions for professionals to carry out their work, without incurring expenses to the hospital. The problem chosen for conducting this descriptive study is related to the risks in the Surgery Room and its management implications. As a research strategy, a field investigation is carried out consisting of the application of questionnaires to the staff of the Central Operative Room, Guarda Ambulatory Surgery Unit and Seia Ambulatory Surgery Unit, services belonging to ULS Guarda EPE. The results show that the vast majority of the employees did not suffer accidents, that there are many failures in the incident notification processes, since these are small and gaps with respect to training on occupational risks. The occurrence of accidents involving physical / mechanical material is higher than the occurrence of accidents involving biological material. As for accidents involving chemical material are fewer in number. In view of the results, it is expected to support hospital management decision-making in order to increase, in particular, the regular monitoring of accidents caused by hospital risks, to monitor procedures and suggest a greater involvement in risk prevention and Environment, investing in the formation and implementation of a risk management program, as a cost reduction strategy.
