Abstract(s)
Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare dermatosis, characterized by necrosis of subcutaneous fat as a phenomenon linked to diseases of the pancreas, which may be the first evidence of a pancreatic illness. Though, this cutaneous affection is still an uncommon complication of pancreatic disease, namely of carcinoma and pancreatitis. The classification of panniculitis, is based on the location of the inflammatory infiltrates, which in pancreatic panniculitis are mostly found in the fat lobules of the hypodermis. The carcinoma of the pancreas is frequently asymptomatic, being mandatory an investigation directed to the suspicion of pancreatic disease, in the evidence of painful, erythematous, nodules especially when there is a history of gastrointestinal symptoms. The present work aims to report a case of pancreatic carcinoma associated with subcutaneous nodules, with histopathological findings of panniculitis with fat necrosis. It is also to remind, through a literary revision, that this uncommon association is of great clinical importance.
