Este relatório é o culminar de três meses de estágio na Clínica Dr. Ergo em Viseu, tendo este como título Suspeita de Retinopatia Diabética, Insuficiência de Convergência e Adaptação de Lentes de Contacto Hidrófilas Tóricas.
A retinopatia diabética é uma patologia bilateral que quanto mais cedo for detetada, maior probabilidade de sucesso no tratamento e menos danos para a visão, daí a importância da regularidade de vigia em pacientes diabéticos, pois em estágios iniciais raramente há alteração da Acuidade Visual. Esta patologia deriva da diabetes mellitus e apesar de poder surgir em menos tempo em pacientes com diabetes tipo II é a diabetes tipo I que na maioria das vezes leva à cegueira (1).
A insuficiência de convergência é um distúrbio da visão binocular em que existe incapacidade de obter ou manter convergência suficiente para uma visão binocular confortável a curtas distâncias (2). Esta disfunção pode também estar associada a distúrbios acomodativos. Com o devido tratamento os valores serão normalizados e os sintomas iniciais podem ser resolvidos.
Atualmente, as Lentes de Contacto são utilizadas em várias situações para além da correção ótica, são usadas a nível terapêutico, estético e cosmético (3). A nível de materiais e produtos de desinfeção tem existido cada vez mais um aperfeiçoamento para que a pessoa possa conciliar a qualidade visual, com conforto e saúde visual. Em relação às Lentes de Contacto Hidrófilas Tóricas é necessário ter especial atenção ao material, origem do astigmatismo e ao sistema de estabilização (3).

Diabetic retinopathy is a bilateral condition that the sooner it is detected, the greater likelihood of treatment success and less damage to vision. Hence the importance of regularity lookout in diabetic patients, in the early stages there rarely change the Visual Acuity. This condition stems from diabetes mellitus, although it can occur in less time in patients with type II diabetes is type I diabetes that most often causes blindness (1). The convergence insufficiency is a disorder of binocular vision in which there is inability to get or maintain sufficient convergence for a comfortable binocular vision at short distances (2). This dysfunction may also be associated with accommodative disorders. With proper treatment the values are normalized and the initial symptoms can be resolved. Currently, the Contact Lenses are used in various situations beyond the optical correction, are used therapeutic, cosmetic and aesthetic level (3). The level of materials and products of disinfection has existed increasingly an enhancement to the person to combine visual quality, visual comfort and health. Regarding Toric Soft Contact Lenses is necessary to have special attention to the material, origin of astigmatism and the stabilization system (3).
