Abstract(s)
The Learning Disabilities (LD) compose a daily problem in our society that can’t be ignored. These are related to learning problems in several cognitive domains particularly with attention and executive functions. On the other hand there are few studies composed of children with and without learning disabilities. Since LD are strongly related to attentional and executive functions problems, the main objective of this study is to ascertain whether there are differences in the performance of individuals with LD (n = 37) and without LD (n = 45) in attention and executive functions tests. It also sought a more detailed analysis of the experimental group, in order to analyze and understand what variables are linked to possible differences in the experimental group. To this end, it developed this observational-descriptive study aiming to collect data about how subjects behave in the proposed tasks. Stroop Color and Word Test and the Trail Making Test for Children were used for this purpose. The results demonstrate that there is a significantly lower performance in the experimental group compared to the control group, even as show that performance on tests of attention and executive functions in children with LD increases with age and schooling. It should be added with regard to the performance considering gender, there were no significant differences.
