Abstract(s)
limitado.
Introduction: Throughout human history, the Cannabis plant has been used for medical purposes, since it possesses a panoply of well-known beneficial actions, namely neuroprotection related. Parkinson's disease is a highly complex neurodegenerative disease with a high burden of disease, which current treatment is limited and mainly palliative. Thus, the rising demand for new pharmacological treatments lead to the growing interest in the development of new treatments aimed at non-dopaminergic systems, namely the Endocannabinoid System. Methodology: Regarding the elaboration of this paper, bibliographic research was conducted by consulting different databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect and Medscape, as well as some reference books. Objective: The aim of this monograph is to investigate the state of the art regarding the effects of cannabinoids and their therapeutic potential in sporadic Parkinson's disease. Conclusion: The use of cannabinoids in Parkinson's disease is not currently a reality, although its potential is undeniable. However, it is reasonable to expect that, in the future, it may be a viable alternative or relevant addition to the current treatment of Parkinson's disease.
