| dc.description.abstract | O objetivo do presente trabalho é o de abordar a recente decisão de saída do Reino Unido da União Europeia como Estado-membro, fenómeno conhecido como Brexit. Nesta medida, esta dissertação opta por trilhar um caminho diferente da maioria dos estudos recentes relativos a este fenómeno, tendo como foco de seu estudo a identidade ideológica do Brexit. Com o intento de desenvolver uma leitura construtivista da temática, recorremos ao contributo do teórico norte-americano de relações internacionais, Alexander Wendt. Este trabalho utilizará a teoria pura para analisar a identidade britânica, e os elementos que a compõem, com a pretensão de melhor compreender a identidade social do Reino Unido e como esta pode ter influenciado a decisão que originou o resultado favorável à saída da União Europeia. A fim de melhor compreender tal aspeto, este trabalho utilizará uma abordagem histórico-descritiva com o objetivo de salientar os momentos fundamentais para a formação do Reino Unido como Estado-nação, a relação histórica deste com a União Europeia, o conservadorismo político e moral presente na sociedade civil, o nacionalismo inglês, e a maneira como todos estes aspectos convergem para a construção da identidade social inglesa. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | The focus of this current dissertation is to approach the recent decision to withdraw the United Kingdom from the European Union as a member state, a phenomenon known as Brexit. In this respect, this dissertation chooses to follow a path that is different from most recent studies on this phenomenon, focusing on the ideological identity of Brexit. In order to develop a constructivist reading of the theme, we resorted to the contribution of the North American theorist of international relations, Alexander Wendt. This work will use pure theory to analyze the British identity, and the elements that compose it, with the intention of better understanding the social identity of the United Kingdom and how it may have influenced the decision that led to the favorable outcome for leaving the European Union. In order to better understand this aspect, this work will use a descriptive historical approach in order to highlight the key moments for the formation of the United Kingdom as a nation-state, its historical relationship with the European Union, the political and moral conservatism present in civil society, English nationalism, and the way in which all these aspects converge in the construction of English social identity. | eng |
