Abstract(s)
The present project contemplates the study of photography and 360º video that, together with the virtual reality, simulate the entrance in the buildings and most emblematic places of the city of Covilhã. It is intended the creation of an interactive guide and the delineation of tourist routes, whose main function is the promotion, disclosure and accessibility of the patrimonial buildings of the city. The city of Covilhã, due to its morphological and historical characteristics, was formed for a long period of time with an urban planning with some structural deficiencies, marked by the difficult roads and pedestrian accesses (particularly in the old part of the city), making it difficult to fluent movement by passers-by; we propose, in this way and in this project, to create alternatives that transpose these difficulties, not only to those who live in it, but also to those who visit it. The existing built heritage, notoriously devalued by the competent authorities, is mostly closed to visits or with limited time and without any support in the field of Tourism, an attitude that reveals a great lack of interest in the promotion of the city's history (neglecting potential in the vicinity of Serra da Estrela), and those who visit are often confronted with bureaucracies to overcome and lose the opportunity to know a little more about the region and about the culture of Covilhã, thus depreciating its touristic potential. In addition to these factors, we should not forget that this city is located in the interior of the country and, as such, has a large elderly population, as well as a considerable number of people who suffer from some degree of disability (markedly mobility), so this project also offers them the opportunity to visit the interior of heritage areas, offering integration, even if virtual, in the city where they live.
