Abstract(s)
principais objetivos.
This work is a case study, with the main subject of study being a group of volunteers from the city of Santa Teresa, located in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. After discussing the definitions of what voluntary work is, we sought to understand concepts such as participation, civil society, and citizenship, and how these terms relate to involvement in volunteer activities. Furthermore, our central proposal was to understand, alongside the volunteers, the main environmental problems found in the region and analyze them from the perspective of a Risk Society. We also examined the main challenges they faced in the execution of their activities and the motivational factors that drive them to remain active in volunteer action. We used categorization for each of our proposals, and to support our analysis, semistructured interviews and an analytical grid were conducted, so that the synopses of each interview could be classified according to our main objectives.
