Abstract(s)
valor patrimonial do edificado.
Architectural heritage is an extremely important resource in collective identity, resulting from human-place interactions over time. It is an evolutionary and constantly adaptive process that responds to comfort needs while also serving as a form of social differentiation. Part of this heritage corresponds to private civil architecture, particularly manor houses, which are important testimonies of their era, tastes, and customs. The object of study is Quinta da Lage, located in a small village in the municipality of Lousada, named Caíde de Rei. It comprises a manor house and agricultural dependencies. Given the owners' inability to undertake restoration and conservation works, there is an attempt to make the estate profitable by adapting it into a Rural Tourism Hotel. The goal is to address how to intervene in the house to adapt it to the new program, considering its architectural and construction characteristics. To achieve this, it is necessary to understand the evolution of the Portuguese manor house, as well as the context of rural tourism in Portugal, to enhance the heritage value of the building. A constructive analysis is carried out, and the state of conservation of the structure is evaluated to propose restoration solutions. In the end, a rehabilitation proposal for the estate is presented, with a program designed for rural tourism.
