Abstract(s)
no desempenho do loop fonológico entre as populações portuguesa e brasileira. Contou
portuguesa (31,6%). As análises revelaram que a população brasileira apresenta índices
maiores de ansiedade do que a população portuguesa (MB=1,39; MP=0,92; t(334,539)=-
6,576; p< ,001).
diretamente no aprimoramento do aprendizado e desistimulando as funções
fonológicas.
The symptoms of anxiety are characterized as an unpleasant sensation, accompanied by headaches, palpitations, and restlessness. Working memory is an information processing and temporary storage system, containing four subcomponents: phonological loop, visuospatial sketch, episodic buffer, and central executive. This study proposes to identify whether anxiety symptoms affect the performance of the phonological loop between Portuguese and Brazilian populations. It had 345 participants, 236 of Brazilian nationality (68.4%) and 109 of Portuguese nationality (31.6%). The analyzes revealed that the Brazilian population has higher levels of anxiety than the Portuguese population (MB=1.39; MP=0.92; t(334.539)=-6.576; p< .001). As for the Verbal WM Recognition Task, the participants with the highest number of correct answers were those of Portuguese nationality (M=11.74; SD=4.7), with less time to respond (1274.37 ms) ahead of those of Brazilian nationality (M=10.31; SD=5.2) who took longer to respond (1466.78 ms). Anxiety symptomatology was not a predictive factor in phonological loop performance. The performance of the phonological loop in the task showed that the Portuguese population obtained the highest number of correct answers in less response time, therefore the Brazilian population obtained the lowest number of correct answers, taking longer to respond, which may be associated with the low performance of the memory skills of work, related to the deficiency in the education of Brazilians, directly affecting the improvement of learning and discouraging the phonological functions.
