Abstract(s)
Ethics, as a discipline, carries out a critical reflection on human behavior, which in addition to interpreting, contesting and problematizing it, also investigates the values, the principles and the moral behavior of individuals, trying to reach a consensus of “good living in society”. It’s a discipline of great prominence in the health field, since it establishes what should be done and justifies – by going to the origin of the reasons – what is done, what is approved or disapproved, what is good or bad and, finally, what is fair or unfair. (Paschoal, A. et.al., 2002) Scientific literature has pointed to different theories and mainly mechanisms that must be adopted in each and every organization, in order to not create an unpleasant environment, and also to make sure that all members feel valued and respected. In this context, the present study aims to analyze and understand the values and possible ethical dilemmas that the healthcare organization under study faces, with the central objective of analyzing the importance of ethics and deontology in the context of healthcare. To this end, a qualitative study was conducted, with a semi-structured quiz, in which the questions are open-ended, so that the interviewee has the possibility to respond freely. Subsequently, the responses collected were analyzed comparatively. The results reveal that in order to have both personal and professional success within an organization, it is essential to work as a team, communicate possible ethical dilemmas so that they are resolved in the most effective way, and always maintain a sense of mutual help and solidarity with other professionals and, in this case, with patients and their families.
