Abstract(s)
As
meses associados a eventos festivos.
detalhada do estágio realizado.
This report, prepared as part of the requirements for the master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, encompasses professional experiences in Research, Hospital Pharmacy, and Community Pharmacy. The research component (Chapter 1) consisted of a retrospective study of poisoning episodes recorded in the Emergency Department of the Local Health Unit of Castelo Branco (ULSCB) during the year 2022. Among the 66,387 emergency episodes that year, 87 relevant cases of poisoning were identified. Substances of abuse were the main cause, with alcohol being the most prevalent (49.4%), followed by medicines. The most common route of exposure was oral. A higher prevalence was observed in males (55.17%), in voluntary intoxications, and with irregular distribution throughout the year, with peaks during months associated with festive events. These data highlight the importance of surveillance, the implementation of preventive strategies, and contribute to the characterization of the regional poisoning profile. The hospital component (Chapter 2) describes the internship at the Pharmaceutical Services of the Amato Lusitano Hospital (ULSCB), carried out from February 5 to March 29, 2024, outlining the overall role of the hospital pharmacist, as well as the experience and skills acquired during the two-month placement in this service. The community pharmacy internship took place at Farmácia Morgado Duarte over a 12-week period, providing contact with the day-to-day reality of a community pharmacist and the opportunity to develop practical skills, particularly through direct interaction with patients. Chapter 3 presents a detailed analysis of this internship experience.
