Abstract(s)
A requalificação funcional do património industrial constitui um dos principais temas de
reabilitação da atualidade. Tal fato deve-se à necessidade de um profundo conhecimento do
edifício, da sua utilização primitiva e da sua evolução, para a posterior atribuição de uma nova
função, de caráter intrinsecamente distinto, a um edifício que evidencia um caráter industrial.
Motivada por este propósito de reabilitação, ponderando a conservação, reconversão e
reutilização do complexo industrial existente, propõe-se nesta dissertação a elaboração de um
trabalho prático apresentando como caso de estudo o antigo matadouro municipal da cidade de
Viseu.
O complexo industrial referido, apresenta hoje um panorama de degradação e abandono,
sendo já comparado a um vazio urbano na cidade devido a sua negligência no contexto urbano.
Pretende-se, portanto, inverter o atual cenário através da promoção da requalificação funcional
contemporânea do mesmo, em detrimento do seu esquecimento ou demolição.
Apresenta-se, como objetivo principal do desenvolvimento da dissertação, o despertar de
um novo polo de atração para a cidade, satisfazendo assim as novas necessidades inerentes ao
crescimento e desenvolvimento da mesma, contribuindo também para a requalificação urbana e
valorização do património industrial de Viseu.
Elabora-se a proposta de um Centro de Desporto e Bem-estar, proporcionando à comunidade
momentos de relaxamento e oferecendo-lhes espaços adequados à prática desportiva e
de atividades aquáticas.
The functional requalification of the industrial heritage is one of the main themes of rehabilitation today. This fact is due to the need for a deep knowledge of the building, its primitive use and its evolution, for the posterior attribution of a new function, with an intrinsically distinct character, to a building that shows an industrial character. Motivated by this purpose of rehabilitation, considering the conservation, reconversion and reuse of the existing industrial complex, it is proposed, in this current dissertation, the elaboration of a practical work presenting the old Municipal Slaughterhouse of the city of Viseu as case of study. The industrial complex referred to, presents today a degradation and abandonment panorama, being compared to an urban void in the city due to its negligence at the urban context. It is intended, therefore, to reverse the current scenario by promoting the contemporary functional requalification of it, to the detriment of its forgetting or demolition. The main objective of the dissertation is to awaken a new pole of attraction to the city, satisfying the new needs inherent to its growth and development, also contributing to the urban requalification and valorization of the industrial heritage of Viseu . The proposal of a Sports and Wellness Center is developed, providing relaxation moments to the community and offering them suitable spaces for sports and aquatic activities.
