Abstract(s)
Chapter 1 In this chapter is represented all work developed as a trainee teacher during the school year 2014/2015, at Escola S. Miguel (Guarda, Portugal), which was supervised by Professor Fernando Badana. The work developed during the past year resulted in a vital experience, which greatly helped me to be a better professional in the field of physical education. In this document are presented the aims and expectations that I idealize to achieve with this experience, as well as the goals proposed by the physical education group. In a continuous manner, I made reference to tasks that I had to perform as a trainee teacher, such as all the teaching process of the class I was assigned with, in particular, 5th C. I also helped in the organization of several activities proposed by the physical education group, and supervised a futsal school sports team as well. In short, a reflection of all the work developed in the referred school during the school year is presented, focusing on the felt and overcome adversities, as well as the positive aspects of this experience. Chapter 2 All swimming schools have a broad target-audience, with students of distinct ages searching the diversified services these schools provide. With that in mind, the aim of this study was to determine which factors motivate people’s ingression in guided swimming lessons, as well as to analyse what motivates them to maintain their continuity in the classes, comparing different age groups in several swimming schools in Portugal. For this, 128 people were inquired, with ages comprised from 6 to 66 years-old, distributed through four swimming schools located in Litoral Norte, Beira Alta and Beira Interior. Results demonstrated that the most important factors for swimming practice initiation are the interest in learning how to swim and also medical recommendation. In addition, individuals maintain their continuity in classes because they enjoy being involved in water sports and because they empathize with their teachers and respective lessons.
