dc.description.abstract	Atualmente se percebe que há uma tendência em denominar de Cinema Queer os filmes antes conhecidos como LGBT. Mas Queer e LGBT são a mesma coisa? Ou há uma distinção entre eles? Se há, qual ou quais seriam? Esta tese tem o objetivo de analisar teorias e práticas do Queer no cinema a partir de obras selecionadas do cineasta brasileiro Karim Aïnouz. Foi avaliado se o uso do termo Queer na sua prática cinematográfica está em consonância com os Estudos Queer. A escolha por esse cineasta brasileiro se justifica pelo fato de possuir mais de um filme “validado” por festivais, pela crítica e por profissionais do mercado cinematográfico como Queer, sendo uma referência no que diz respeito ao denominado Cinema Queer no Brasil. Os filmes selecionados para análise foram: Seams (1993); Madame Satã (2002); O Céu de Suelly (2006); O Abismo Prateado (2011); Praia do Futuro (2014) e A Vida Invisível (2019). Todos eles são obras de ficção. À exceção de Seams (único curta), todos os restantes são longas-metragens. Em síntese, trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa com o uso cruzado de múltiplas abordagens, nomeadamente a revisão de literatura, destinada a subsidiar a parte teórica, e a etnografia de tela, somada à Teoria de Cineastas, que norteiam a parte empírica do estudo. Como resultados, apontamos que as obras fílmicas analisadas de Karim Aïnouz nesta tese, podem ser enquadradas no denominado Cinema Queer.	pt_PT
dc.description.abstract	Currently, it is noticed that there is a tendency to call Queer Cinema the films formerly known as LGBT. But are Queer and LGBT the same thing? Or is there a distinction between them? If so, which one or which ones would they be? This thesis aims to analyze Queer theories and practices in cinema from selected films by Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz. It was evaluated whether the use of the term Queer in his cinematographic practice is in line with Queer Studies. The choice of this Brazilian filmmaker is justified by the fact that he has more than one film “validated” as Queer by festivals, critics, and professionals in the cinematographic market. Karim Aïnouz is a reference regarding the so-called Queer Cinema in Brazil. The films selected for analysis were: Seams (1993); Madame Satã (2002); O Céu de Suelly (2006); O Abismo Prateado (2011); Praia do Futuro (2014) e A Vida Invisível (2019). Almost all of them are feature-length works of fiction directed exclusively by Karim, with Seams being the only short film selected. In methodological terms, it is a qualitative research with the cross use of multiple methodologies, namely the literature review, intended to support the theoretical part, and the screen ethnography added to the approach of the Filmmaker's Theory, which guides the empirical evidence of this research. As a result, we point out that the film works analyzed by Karim Aïnouz in this thesis, based on our theoretical support, can indeed be framed in the so-called Queer Cinema.	pt_PT
