Abstract(s)
normalizar amplitudes, flexibilidades e desenvolver habilidades visuais e motoras,
eliminando assim a sintomatologia apresentada pelo do paciente.
This report was written within the scope of the dissertation/internship curricular unit, carried out over six months, at the Clinical and Experimental Centre for Vision Sciences, at the University of Beira Interior. During this period, a set of eye examinations was carried out where three clinical cases were selected based on defined criteria: ocular health, ocular surface and contact lenses, and binocular vision. The first case involves a suspected retinal detachment, characterized by complaints of changes in the shape and size of objects, severe headache in the frontal area, black spots, and subretinal fluid, where the patient was submitted to a set of exams diagnostic tests and subsequently referred to another health professional. The second case addresses rigid gas-permeable contact lenses fitting in keratoconus. Since this makes the cornea irregular and thinner, and there is a loss of visual acuity, contact lens wear provides better mechanical support. Examination of corneal topography is critical in detecting this corneal condition and helps contact lens fitting succeed. The third case presents an anomaly of binocular vision, specifically a convergence insufficiency. Characterized by the inability to maintain an effortless convergence, this case shows the importance of signs and symptoms also for the fundamental role of anamnesis and binocular vision tests. Treatment may include visual training to normalize amplitudes, flexibilities and developing visual and motor skills, thus eliminating the patient's complaints and symptoms.
