Abstract(s)
Introdução: As Perturbações Regulatórias do Processamento Sensorial (PRPS)
sensoriais, tendo repercussões no desenvolvimento, atenção e socialização. As PRPS
têm sido associadas a várias condições clínicas, como Perturbações do
Neurodesenvolvimento [em particular Perturbação do Espetro do Autismo (PEA) e
Perturbação de Hiperatividade e Défice de Atenção (PHDA)], ansiedade, depressão e
comportamentos externalizantes.
do processamento sensorial.
Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), versão 25.
aplicação do questionário. Verificou-se maior prevalência de alterações no sexo
masculino (80,0%).
Introduction: Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) are characterized by a pattern of behavior associated with difficulties in regulating emotions, behaviors, and motor planning in response to sensory stimuli, with repercussions on children's development, attention, and socialization. SPD have been associated with various clinical conditions, such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders [particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)], anxiety, depression, and externalizing behaviors. The most widely used tool to assess SPD is the "Sensory Profile," created by Dunn in 1999, a questionnaire that evaluates sensory processing abilities. Objectives: To characterize SPD in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service of CHUCB and to analyze the correlation between the result of Dunn's Sensory Profile previously applied and the current diagnosis. Methods: Observational, retrospective, and descriptive study conducted through the analysis of the clinical records of patients at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service of CHUCB aged between 3 and 10 years, with at least one application of the Dunn's Sensory Profile questionnaire and at least six months of pediatric psychiatric follow-up. Statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software, version 25. Results: Thirty children were included, with a median age of 8 years at the time of questionnaire application. There was a higher prevalence of alterations in males (80.0%). Most of the alterations were recorded in children with the diagnosis of ASD(50.0%) and ADHD (26.7%). There was a higher probability of the existence of psychopathology if there were alterations in Sensory Seeking in Dunn's Sensory Profile (p=0.014), being significantly more frequent in children with ADHD (87.5%). Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of healthcare professionals being attentive to the sensory aspects in children with other psychopathological diagnoses, particularly ADHD, and considering the early application of the Dunn Sensory Profile and intervention directed at these alterations.
