Abstract(s)
Crisis management in political scandals is a multidisciplinary investigation as its approach goes from communication, crisis management and controversy to public opinion. In turn, these subjects have something in common: they were all created by the same transversal factor - mass media. Without them, political communication wouldn’t become professional and the scandals wouldn’t reach the public sphere and public opinion; its visibility and importance would be greatly reduced. Truth is without mass media the anonymity concept would prevail in nowadays world. Thereby, this study/ investigation aims to analyze these new emergencies which occur both in the political field and mass media, and understand what is the best way to manage crisis and scandal - in order to keep interveners’ reputation as untouchable as possible. To find a new perspective and a both suitable and objective solution various dominant authors will be subject of analysis. Furthermore, the study will be supported by practical cases such as the controversies in which the ex-Former Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, in the XIX Portuguese Government, Miguel Relvas, was involved. These controversies inevitably contributed to the damage of its image and to its subsequent political disengagement.
