Abstract(s)
Este estudo procura perceber os usos mediáticos digitais no processo migratório dos
estudantes universitários da diáspora Cabo-verdiana em Portugal. O processo migratório
envolve questões burocráticos com poderes determinantes da saída do país de origem e a
permanência legal no país de acolhimento, além disso, tem implicações psicossociais no
sujeito que conclui o processo. A comunicação diásporica é o principal conceito deste
estudo, sendo um campo pouco explorado, principalmente quando relacionada com a
diáspora cabo-verdiana, então, apoiamo-nos em pesquisas de autores que debruçaram
sobre diferentes comunidades migradas numa abordagem conjunta com a comunicação
para compor a nossa conceitualização teórica, também recorremos a elementos que definem
a emigração do povo cabo-verdiano para complementar esse enquadramento. E para efeito
de uma leitura dos seus usos comunicativos, seguimos uma perspetiva exploratória,
reunimos com 5 estudantes universitários cabo-verdianos que frequentam instituições do
ensino superior em Portugal. Junto deles conseguimos obter relatos dos percursos
migratórios transversalmente aos usos tecnológicos que fazem, contudo, foi possível
perceber que os estudantes usaram os medias e as redes sociais digitais durante todo
processo de candidatura e pedido de visto; devido a necessidade de se aproximarem com o
contexto de origem, continuam a usar diariamente as suas redes sociais; uma outra
conclusão compreendida, foi a cerca dos novos hábitos do consumo mediático, que mostra
uma crescente substituição dos meios tradicionais pelos digitais.
This study seeks to understand the digital media use in the migratory process of university students from the Cape Verdean diaspora in Portugal. The migratory process involves bureaucratic issues related to power that determine leaving the country of origin and the legal stay in the host country, in addition, has psychosocial implications for the subject who complete the process. Diasporic communication is the main concept of this study, considering a limited explored field, especially related to the Cape Verdean diaspora, we rely on research by authors who have investigated different migrated communities in a joint approach with communication to compose the theoretical conceptualization, as well as resort to elements that define the emigration of the Cape Verdean people to complement this framework. For the purpose of reading communicative uses, we adapted an exploratory perspective, and met with 5 Cape Verdean university students who attend higher education institutions in Portugal. Together, we were able to obtain reports of migratory routes across the technological use, however, it was possible to notice that students used the media and digital social networks during the entire visa application and application process. Due to the need to get closer to the original context, students continue to use social networks daily; another understood conclusion was about the new habits of media consumption, which shows an increasing substitution of traditional media for digital ones.
