Abstract(s)
e sintomas do paciente.
The completion of this report was based on the analysis of three clinical cases: Adaptation of an RPG Contact Lens in a Keratoconus, Convergence Insufficiency and Suspicion of ARMD. These clinical cases are examples of situations I had contact with during the curricular internship in the master’s degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences at the University of Beira Interior. The work took place over a period of six months at the Clinical and Experimental Center in Vision Sciences (CCECV) at the University of Beira Interior in Covilhã. This work presents a RGP Rose-K lens adaptation in a patient with Keratoconus, the development and execution of a visual therapy plan for a patient with Convergence insufficiency and the optometric approach to take in a patient with suspected AMD. Keratoconus is a dystrophic corneal disease leading to loss of visual acuity. which is usually associated with symptoms such as the perception of phantom images, headache and diplopia vision. Further examination of the corneal topography is fundamental in the detection of this condition. The treatment may pass through an RGP lens adaptation specific for keratoconus. Convergence Insufficiency is a binocular disfunction that is characterized by the inability to effortlessly maintain convergence. The treatment can go through visual training in order to normalize the convergence, thus eliminating the patient's complaints and symptoms. AMD is a degenerative retinal disease, being one of the biggest causes of blindness in old age. Early detection is essential in controlling the disease, as there is no treatment.
