Abstract(s)
farmacoterapêutica dos idosos institucionalizados, pertencentes à Elderly of Beira
Interior cohort (EBIcohort), diagnosticados com a Doença Pulmonar Obstrutiva Crónica
(DPOC).
É a finalização do
The present report is aimed to obtain a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is divided into two parts. The first part corresponds to the Research component, which consists of the pharmacotherapeutic assessment of institutionalized elderly people, belonging to the Elderly of Beira Interior cohort (EBIcohort), diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This assessment was performed using Beers (2019), STOPP/START version 2 and EU(7)-PIM List criteria, in which a total of 90 Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIM) by Beers (2019) criteria, 50 PIM by EU(7)-PIM List criteria and 96 PIM by STOPP criteria were obtained. We also verified the existence of pharmacological interactions between the drugs used to treat COPD and the drugs for the treatment of other comorbidities. Several interactions were found, highlighting the concomitant use of long-acting beta2 adrenergic bronchodilators and diuretics, which entails a considerable risk of hypokalaemia. The second part corresponds to the report of the curricular internship in community pharmacy, carried out at Farmácia Portuguesa, in Funchal, between September 12 of 2022 and January 27 of 2023. Here I describe the functioning of the pharmacy, as well as the specific functions performed by the pharmacist in this setting, from supply, returns, provision of medicines and other health products, stock management, observation of manipulations, pharmaceutical services, among others. It is the finalization of the Integrated Master in which I had the support of a very helpful and dynamic team.
