O desenvolvimento crescente de tecnologias emergentes vivenciado no final do século XX e em especial na última década trouxe-nos um potencial sem precedentes na história, para fomentar uma revolução no ensino. Não obstante, a aplicação destas tecnologias por ainda não ter atingido um estado de maturação desejável, não contribuiu como seria de esperar para a modernização das tradicionais aulas expositivas.
O objectivo deste estudo é analisar e compreender as potencialidades das novas tecnologias e o seu contributo para o processo de ensino/aprendizagem. As tecnologias emergentes utilizadas nos sistemas de Realidade Virtual e multimédia, concretamente os gráficos interactivos gerados por computador e a estereoscopia, como ferramenta alternativa e de modernização no processo de ensino/aprendizagem da Geometria Descritiva.
The development of emerging technologies at the end of the twentieth century and its application in educational practices has an unprecedented potential in history to promote a revolutionary improvement in the teaching/learning process. Nevertheless, the development of such improvement has not yet reached its maturity. The purpose of this study is to analyze and understand the potential of new technologies and their contribution to the process of teaching/learning. Emerging technologies such as interactive and stereoscopic graphics used in Virtual Reality and Multimedia, are an interesting and powerful tool to modernize and improve the process of teaching/learning Descriptive Geometry.
