De entre todas as doenças crónicas que afetam a humanidade, poucas provocam tanto transtorno como as doenças psiquiátricas, no entanto, estas perturbações causam incapacidade, não apenas pelos seus efeitos na mente, mas também pela sua extensão ao corpo, provocando uma pletora de comorbilidades físicas, cujos fatores se relacionam entre si de forma intrínseca e cíclica.
A correlação entre doença psiquiátrica e doença cardiovascular é reconhecida pela Organização Mundial de Saúde, e o seu peso, tanto individual como associado, é relevado com grande importância na saúde individual mundial.
De entre as doenças psiquiátricas, a relação à doença cardiovascular mais estudada e estabelecida é na depressão.
Na elaboração desta tese de revisão pretende-se estabelecer de forma concisa o risco associado a doenças cardiovasculares na depressão.
Pretende-se identificar, não apenas o risco, mas também a morbimortalidade subsequente, bem como explanar os diversos mecanismos causais na base desta relação mente-coração.
Ao reconhecer a influência dos transtornos da mente no sistema cardiovascular, pretende-se finalizar o peso desta associação com a discussão sobre a relevância e influência do reconhecimento antecipado da depressão, bem como a influência do seu tratamento e correta monitorização na longevidade e qualidade de vida dos indivíduos pela mesma afetados.
Among all the chronic diseases that affect mankind, few cause such disturbance as psychiatric diseases, however, these disturbances, causes not only incapacity for its effects on the mind, but also by its extent to the body, provoking a plethora of physical comorbidities, which factors correlate between each other, intrinsically and cyclically. The connection between psychiatric disease and cardiovascular disease is recognized by the World Health Organization, and its weight, both individual and combined, is given great relevance in global individual health. Among the psychiatric diseases, the correlation to cardiovascular disease that has most studied and established, is with depression. In the elaboration of this dissertation, it is intended to establish concisely the risk of cardiovascular disease depression. It is intended to explain, not only the risk, but also subsequent morbidity and mortality, along with clarifying the diverse mechanisms upon which this mind and heart correlation lies. By recognizing the influence of the disturbances of the mind in the cardiovascular system, it is intended to associate the weight of this correlation with a discussion about the relevance and influence of the early recognition of psychiatric diseases, with the influence of its treatment and correct follow up in the longevity and quality of life of the individuals that are affected by this disease.
