Abstract(s)
preconceitos flagrantes e manifestam atitudes positivas face à diversidade familiar,
Homoparental families in Portugal, as well as in the rest of the world, is an incresingly theme. Thus, the main objective of this research is to understand how students at the University of Beira Inteior face homosexual people and their families, in particular, what are the attitudes of young students towards homoparenthood. For this purpose, we used a quantitatively-based methodology and used an online questionnaire survey as a data collection technique, in wich 163 students aged between 18 and 23 participated. Some questions that guided this research: What are the attitudes of university students towards homoparental families? Do they have a favorable position or do they have any negative attitudes towards homosexual couples raising and educating children? Our results show that young students at UBI do not adhere to flagrant prejudices and manifest positive attitudes towards family diversity, whether when assessing the parenting skills of gay fathers and lesbian mothers, or when assessing the well being of their children.. Those who have more positive attitudes are girls, students with more educated mother, those who have no religion, as well as those who are politically positioned to the center and left and those who have interpersonal contact with homosexuals.
