| dc.description.abstract | Não existe jornalismo sem os cidadãos. Mas o seu contributo é imprescindível à profissão? De que forma? Para este estudo a importância do cidadão liga-se ao seu papel ativo no jornalismo, concretamente na imprensa online. Ao longo da história do jornalismo tem-se assistido à crescente valorização do cidadão, não só como leitor e consumidor de informação mas principalmente como alguém que pode opinar sobre os assuntos que são divulgados nos meios de comunicação. Estes foram-se tornando recetivos à voz dos cidadãos, criando espaços destinados à sua participação, tendo como principal mecanismo as “cartas do leitor”. Porém, estas estavam enquadradas numa imprensa com restrições em termos de espaço, o que impunha necessariamente critérios de seleção. Como resultado, o espaço que era reservado a todos os cidadãos, via-se, frequentemente, condicionado a apenas alguns. Com a disseminação da Internet assistimos, atualmente, a um paradigma inverso. Qualquer indivíduo pode produzir e divulgar informações na Internet, informar e ser informado, reagir a informações, e esperar reações. O cerne deste estudo enquadra-se na adaptação do jornalismo à Internet, especialmente, nos mecanismos que criou à participação do cidadão. Esperamos, através do sistema de comentários da versão online do jornal PÚBLICO, entender o processo de interação entre os leitores/comentadores, e retomando as questões iniciais perceber se o seu contributo é imprescindível ao jornalismo e de que forma. Para isso, concentramos o nosso estudo no contributo destes nos artigos publicados na página online do PÚBLICO, analisando possíveis novos dados que os cidadãos tenham conhecimento, e que os partilhem na caixa de comentários, sendo suscetíveis de serem relevantes para o jornalista, podendo vir a ser transformados em novas notícias. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | There is no journalism without the citizens. But their contribution is essential to the profession? In what way? For this study the importance of citizen binds to its active role in journalism, particularly in online media. Throughout the history of journalism, we have seen the growing appreciation of the citizens, not only as a reader and information consumer but rather as someone who can opine on matters that are disclosed in the media. These were becoming receptive to the voice of citizens, creating spaces for their participation, with the main mechanism the "letters to the editor". However, these were framed in a press with constraints in terms of space, which necessarily imposes selection criteria. As a result, the space that was reserved for all citizens, stood often conditioned to just a few. With the spread of Internet we are witnessing a reverse paradigm. Any individual can produce and disseminate information on the Internet, inform and be informed, reacting to information, and wait for reactions. This study focuses in the journalism adaptation to the Internet, especially in the mechanisms that created the citizen participation. We hope, through the comments of the online version of the journal PÚBLICO, to understand the process of interaction between readers/reviewers, and resuming the initial questions to understand if their contribution is indispensable to journalism and in what way. So, we focused our study on the contribution of these in the articles published in the online homepage of PÚBLICO, analysing possible new data that citizens are aware, and that share in the comments box, as well as if such data are relevant to the journalist, and if can be transformed into new news. | eng |
