Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação tem como objetivo uma análise completa e de largo espectro do currículo
médico das mais bem classificadas instituições médicas do mundo.
No primeiro capítulo faço uma reflexão sobre o ensino médico no geral, as suas
particularidades no nosso país e, em detalhe, de como é feito na Faculdade de Ciências da
Saúde da Universidade da Beira Interior.
No segundo capítulo avalio o currículo médico das universidades médicas mais bem
classificadas pela Times Higher Education como forma de analisar o que fazem, como o
fazem e a razão pela qual, no seu contingente socio-político-económico, são bem sucedidas.
No terceiro capítulo tento aplicar os ensinamentos aprendidos até então como forma de
elevar o currículo médico da Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde, sugerindo melhorias na sua
organização e metodologia, como forma de obter benefícios incrementais nas diversas
variáveis que marcam a qualidade da formação de um médico.
Sendo um projeto ambicioso, a reformulação do currículo médico nesta dissertação carece
adicionalmente de uma análise integral dos critérios de avaliação e reformulação de todos
os anos do curso mas, como prova de conceito, serve o exemplo como motivação para
trabalhos futuros e progressos no sentido de constante melhoria na formação de
profissionais de medicina.
This dissertation aims to provide a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the medical curriculum at the highest-ranking medical institutions. In the first chapter, a reflection is made on medical education in general, its particularities in our country, and in detail, how it is conducted at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. The second chapter evaluates the medical curriculum of the universities ranked highest by Times Higher Education as a way to analyze what they do, how they do it, and the reason why, within their socio-political-economic contingents, they are successful. In the third chapter, I attempt to apply the lessons learned so far to elevate the medical curriculum of the faculty, improving its organization and methodology as a way to obtain incremental benefits in the various variables that mark the quality of a physician. Being an ambitious project, the reformulation of the medical curriculum in this dissertation additionally requires a comprehensive analysis of the evaluation criteria and the reformulation of all years of the course. However, as a proof of concept, the example serves as motivation for future works and progress towards constant improvement in the training of medical professionals.
