Este artigo de revisão sistemática tem por objetivo reunir, avaliar e sintetizar os
resultados de vários estudos académicos publicados sobre o abandono da prática
desportiva. Foram analisados vinte e sete artigos em duas bases de dados distintas (Isis
Web Of Science e Scopus).
Os resultados obtidos indicam fatores relacionados com a idade, género, características
idiossincráticas, motivação, carreiras duais e desporto de alta competição.
Reconhecemos a dificuldade de analisar os referidos fatores isoladamente.
Desafiamos a comunidade científica a aprofundar esta inter-relação, que poderá
determinar algumas soluções para diminuir a taxa de abandono desportivo.
This systematic review article aims to gather, assess and synthesize the results of several academic studies published on the sports dropout. Twenty-seven articles were analyzed in two different databases (Isis Web of Science and Scopus). The findings show that factors related to age, gender, idiosyncratic characteristics, motivation, dual careers and high competition sport. We recognize the difficulty of analyzing these factors isolated. We challenge the scientific community to deepen this interrelationship that may determine some solutions to reduce the sports dropout rate.
