Abstract(s)
O estresse e a síndrome de burnout afetam diversos profissionais no mundo, devido às
exigências do mercado, dentre as profissões, se incluem os profissionais de saúde. Nos
três últimos anos, foram os que mais sofreram destes males, em consequência da
pandemia de COVID-19. A consequência da disseminação deste vírus aumentou a
necessidade de realização deste estudo de caso, que teve como objetivo identificar os
principais fatores que desencadearam estresse nos profissionais de saúde, a partir das
situações a que foram expostos e o impacto na saúde mental destes profissionais. Além
disso, avaliou-se a satisfação dos funcionários com a gestão da saúde, as respostas das
instituições para os quadros de estresse dos profissionais e também foram propostas
medidas para a melhoria da gestão dos serviços de saúde. O estudo de caso foi realizado
com profissionais médicos e a enfermeiros. A recolha dos dados fez-se, com o recurso a
um guião de entrevistas. Após a coleta de dados foi realizada uma entrevista online e
então procedeu-se à transcrição dos dados. Os colaboradores avaliaram, de acordo com
suas experiências vividas, o suporte dado por parte das respetivas instituições de saúde.
Os dados recolhidos mostraram que os profissionais de saúde apresentaram sintomas
que caracterizam o estresse e traços de SB. Já em relação ao apoio psicológico, dois
profissionais relataram que ficaram satisfeitos, pois perceberam apoio durante o
período mais crítico da pandemia. Contudo, um deles afirmou não ter havido
continuidade ao suporte psicológico. Quanto ao apoio social, para quatro entrevistados
o apoio familiar foi importante para a recuperação ou para amenizar os impactos na
saúde mental. Assim, concluiu-se que a exposição a elevado número de óbitos, a
sobrecarga e a exaustão, o medo constante, falta de suporte psicológico adequado, entre
outras situações, levaram a danos psicológicos e ao desenvolvimento de transtornos
mentais. A maior parte das instituições não prestou o apoio psicológico devido, ou as
ações de suporte psicológico adotadas foram insuficientes para amenizar os danos
causados à saúde mental dos colaboradores.

However, one of them stated that there was no continuity of psychological support. As for social support, for four respondents, family support was important for recovery or to mitigate the impacts on mental health. Thus, it was concluded that exposure to a high number of deaths, overload and exhaustion, constant fear, lack of adequate psychological support, among other situations, led to psychological harm and the development of mental disorders. Most institutions did not provide the necessary psychological support, or the psychological support actions adopted were insufficient to mitigate the damage caused to the mental health of employees.
