Abstract(s)
Working memory refers to the temporary storage and manipulation information that is necessary for the performance of cognitive activities. The visuospatial sketch is a parallel visual subsystem of working memory that serves to store and manipulate visual and spatial information. The depressive symptomatology is mostly marked bysymptoms such as sadness, crying, insomnia, irritability, and discouragement. This study seeks to understand if there is any difference between genders in relation to depressive symptoms and to know if high levels of depressive symptoms influence the performance of individuals in the RCBTT. Method: The study was composed of 109 participants, of both genders, of Portuguese nationality and aged between 18 and 52 years. All participants filled out a sociodemographic questionnaire; answered a question to evaluate their level of fatigue, sleepiness and alertness at the momento; and finally, started the task. Results: It was not found gender depressive symptomatology significant differences, nor of the task score with the BSI. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that there is no direct relationship between depressive symptomatology and gender, nor between the task score and the BSI.
