| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: A qualidade de vida dos doentes com patologia oncológica é frequentemente esquecida no decurso do seu tratamento. Sendo o cancro gástrico a terceira causa de morte por cancro na Europa, é imperativo averiguar se os que são diagnosticados com esta patologia têm uma sintomatologia e expectativas de estado de saúde correspondentes à realidade e se estas correspondem à perspetiva do doente oncológico, envolvendo sintomatologia e parâmetros biopsicossociais. Materiais e Métodos: Foi recolhida uma amostra de 67 respostas ao questionário FACT-Ga de doentes submetidos a gastrectomia total e subtotal por neoplasia gástrica, no Centro Hospitalar Tondela-Viseu entre janeiro de 2018 e dezembro de 2022, inclusive. Resultados e Discussão: A análise revelou que os doentes submetidos a uma gastrectomia laparoscópica apresentavam melhores resultados na subescala do Bemestar Funcional, indicando na globalidade uma melhor aceitação da doença, melhor satisfação com o desempenho no emprego e atividades da vida diária, melhor sono e melhor satisfação com a qualidade de vida no geral do que os doentes submetidos a uma laparotomia. As restantes correlações entre os scores, a técnica cirúrgica e dados demográficos analisados não revelaram significância estatística. A subescala do Bemestar Social/Familiar tem uma score particularmente elevado, demonstrando uma boa rede de suporte dos doentes da amostra. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The quality of life of cancer patients is frequently disregarded during treatment, which is highly focused on improving the patient’s overall survival. Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Europe. It is therefore important to gather information regarding the patient’s symptoms and health related expectations and whether they align with what they consider to be quality of life in what concerns clinical, social, and psychological parameters. Methods: Our patient sample is constituted by 67 answers from the FACT-Ga questionnaire of patients who underwent total and subtotal gastrectomy in the ViseuTondela Hospital Centre from January of 2018 to December of 2022. Results and Discussion: The study revealed that the patients submitted to a laparoscopic gastrectomy had better scores in the Functional Wellbeing subscale. Globally, this indicates that comparatively with the patients submitted to a laparotomy, the laparoscopic gastrectomy patients are more satisfied with their performance at their job and their daily activities, sleep better and are more satisfied with their quality of life in general. The correlations between the subscale scores and the surgery type and technique, as well as the demographic data, were not statistically significant. The Social and Familiar subscale has a particularly high score, indicating the patient’s good support network. | eng |
