Abstract(s)
Dementia consists in a deterioration in the cognitive abilities interfering with the everyday activities. There are many known causes, the most frequent being Alzheimer’s Disease. The most prevalent forms of dementia have one common feature, as they are not curable. Hence, it is important for the clinician to study whether the dementia is reversible or not, for it has many relevant implications on the prognosis. Examples of reversible causes are metabolic disorders, nutritional deficits, as well as infectious diseases and intoxications, and others. Nutritional deficits deserve special focus because of their great incidence and for concerning all ages. This work has the goal of analyzing potentially reversible dementias due to nutritional deficits and build an approach protocol and another of treatment.
