Abstract(s)
Neste trabalho apresentamos a resolução de alguns problemas de otimização recorrendo preferencialmente a processos geométricos e algébricos elementares. Foi nossa intenção apresentar uma abordagem alternativa ao cálculo para a sua resolução. No primeiro capítulo, estudamos o problema de encontrar os extremos de funções polinomiais de baixo grau.
No segundo capítulo, apresentamos os argumentos geométricos de Zenodorus e de Steiner para a demonstração da famosa desigualdade isoperimétrica: de entre todas as curvas com um certo comprimento fixado, a circunferência é a que encerra maior área.
In this work we present the resolution of some optimization problems preferably using elementary geometric and algebraic processes. It was our intention to present an approach alternative to calculus in their solving. In the first chapter, we study the problem of finding the extremes of low degree polynomial functions. In the second chapter, we present the arguments of Zenodorus and Steiner for the demonstration of the famous isoperimetric inequality: among all curves with certain fixed length, the circumference is the one with the largest area.
