Lina Rodrigues.
Desenvolvi a minha
utentes. O estágio em Farmácia Comunitária preparou-me e deixou-me confiante para
enfrentar os desafios da prática farmacêutica.
O terceiro capítulo relata o meu estágio em Farmácia Hospitalar, no Hospital Sousa
This dissertation describes my research experience and professional experience in community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy, which are divided into three chapters respectively, in order to fulfill the requirements for obtaining a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The first chapter corresponds to the research component, which is based on the study of clinical trials aimed at discovering the efficacy of nanomedicines for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with the highest mortality rate among men and women. According to GLOBOCAN 2022 data, there were 2,480,675 new cases and 1,817,469 deaths from lung cancer. Nanotechnology has emerged as an innovative approach to improve the effectiveness of treatments, allowing the selective delivery of drugs to therapeutic targets in order to reduce the adverse effects of conventional therapies. The study of these clinical trials carried out in this dissertation contributes to a better understanding of the applicability of nanomedicines and their promising role in cancer therapies. The second chapter describes my professional experience in Community Pharmacy, at Farmácia Covilhã, which took place between February 5 and April 26, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Lina Rodrigues. In this chapter, I describe the pharmacy’s areas of intervention, the daily responsibilities in the pharmacy as well as the activities and role that I played throughout my internship. I developed my professional autonomy by applying the skills that I acquired during the course in real-life contexts and developed effective communication and active listening skills with patients. The internship in Community Pharmacy prepared me and left me confident to face the challenges of pharmaceutical practice. The third chapter recounts my internship in Hospital Pharmacy at Sousa Martins Hospital, between April 29 and June 21, 2024, under the guidance of Dr. Jorge Aperta. This chapter describes the different areas of the pharmaceutical services that I worked in, along with the activities carried out in each of them. Understanding the hospital drug circuit, and the practical of Good Practices in Hospital Pharmacy, helped me to develop the technical and scientific rigor that is essential in this field, especially in the area of Pharmacotechnics. I also developed the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Both internships helped me to apply the theoretical knowledge that I learned in the academy throughout the five years of the course to the professional practice.
