| dc.description.abstract | No presente estudo, com base numa amostra de PME Portuguesas estudámos os determinantes da performance financeira em contexto de PME. Tendo por base a variável dependente, performance financeira, e as variáveis independentes, idade, dimensão, Cash Flow, endividamento e crescimento das vendas. Inicialmente contámos com uma amostra de 4.641 PME Portuguesas, tendo sido depois retiradas as empresas do setor financeiro, as empresas sem número de empregados e sem volume de negócios ou ativo total, as empresas com valores demasiado elevados (outliers) e as empresas sem informação para pelo menos 4 anos consecutivos, durante o período de 2010 a 2019. Assim sendo, foi considerada uma amostra final de 3.309 PME Portuguesas, tendo-se recolhido dados para o período de 2010 a 2019. O tratamento dos dados obtidos fez-se pelo recurso ao programa estatístico STATA e a estimação dos efeitos das variáveis independentes sobre a variável dependente foi realizada recorrendo-se a dados em painel. Os resultados obtidos permitem-nos concluir que, perante esta amostra de PME Portuguesas, não existe uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre as variáveis idade e performance financeira, e que a variável dimensão e performance financeira tem uma relação negativa e estatisticamente significativa, ao nível de 1%. Contudo as variáveis independentes, crescimento das vendas, Cash Flow e endividamento relacionadas com a variável dependente performance financeira, têm uma relação positiva e estatisticamente significativa. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | In this dissertation, based on a sample of Portuguese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, we studied the financial performance indicators in the context of these firms. Financial performance was considered the dependent variable, and as independent variables were considered age, size, cash flow, debt, and sales growth. We started from an initial sample of 4.641 Portuguese SMEs, from where were excluded firms hat belong to the financial sector, firms without number of employees, firms with no turnover or total assets, the firms with values higher than usual were also excluded and considered outliers and finally firms with no information for four consecutive years were not considered as well. In the end, the final sample was composed of 3.309 Portuguese SMEs, and the collected data regard the period between 2010 and 2019. The analysis and treatment of the collected data was done using the software for statistics and data science STATA. The obtained results allow us to conclude that, from this sample of Portuguese SMEs there is no statistically meaningful relation between age and financial performance variables, and that there is a negative statistically significant relationship between the variables size and financial performance at a level of 1%. However, the independent variables, sales growth, cash flow and debt related with the dependent variable of financial performance, have a positive and statistically significant relationship. | eng |
