O insucesso empresarial tem sido um tema frequentemente abordado na literatura. No entanto, o
fenĂłmeno da insolvĂȘncia Ă© ainda hoje pouco investigado.
O objetivo deste estudo Ă© identificar as causas das insolvĂȘncias das pequenas e mĂ©dias empresas
na perspetiva do empresĂĄrio.
No estudo desenvolve-se uma revisĂŁo da literatura sobre as causas das insolvĂȘncias e sistematizamse dez causas que podem contribuir para este desfecho.
A metodologia utilizada foi qualitativa, utilizando-se o método da entrevista semiestruturada numa
amostra de dez empresas sediadas nos concelhos de Castelo Branco e da CovilhĂŁ.
Com a informação fornecida pelos empresĂĄrios expondo a sua experiĂȘncia, discutem-se as causas
e destacam-se as duas mais frequentes que conduziram Ă insolvĂȘncia destas empresas: mĂĄ gestĂŁo
e os crĂ©ditos incobrĂĄveis de clientes. Foi possĂvel constatar que apesar do encerramento destas
empresas, Ă© possĂvel recolher conhecimentos e liçÔes Ășteis para o sucesso de futuras empresas e
projetos.
Entrepreneurial failure has been a frequent subject in the literature. However, the phenomenon of insolvency is still little investigated. The purpose of this study is to identify the causes of the insolvencies of small and medium sized companies from the perspective of the entrepreneur. In this study, a review of the literature on the causes of the insolvencies is made and ten causes that can justify this event are systematized. The methodology used was qualitative, using a semi-structured interview method in a sample of ten companies located in the regions of Castelo Branco and CovilhĂŁ. A discussion Is developed on the causes of insolvencies with the information provided by the entrepreneurs. The two most frequent causes that led to insolvency are identified: bad management and customer bad debts. It was possible to determine that the failure of these companies allowed the gathering of knowledge and useful insights for the success of future companies and projects.
