Abstract(s)
The growing industrial automation in recent decades and the increased cost of raw materials, energy and investment, have brought new challenges and new needs in relation to the increased lifetime of the equipment and simultaneously to contain costs. These factors will be reflected in the development of organizations and maintenance techniques used. With the emergence of preventive maintenance guests, derived from technological development rapidly develops with support means. These techniques have allowed a further reduction of maintenance costs and increased availability of machines. In companies, mainly industrial, it must be increasingly careful attention to the maintenance function, to which must be defined models and policies to ensure effectiveness: organization, personnel qualification, advanced techniques, proper control of equipment and costs using in particular the methods of organization and management, supported computer resources. Therefore, this study focused on an organization's area of Covilhã whose duties is industry and wine production, making use of a methodology of a qualitative nature, aiming to analyze the current operation of the same, more specifically, its maintenance department, and the possibility of implementing a new model of organization and maintenance management. The results of the study show that there is a huge need for change of mind, and an urgent implementation of habits of organization to the future, to achieve higher levels of performance and availability of equipment and hence strengthening company's position in the market in which it operates.
