pacientes.
Introduction: Artificial Intelligence has been developing rapidly and is being used more and more frequently due to the rapid progress of technology. Its use raises important ethical questions, and as such it is essential that ethical standards are in place so that Artificial Intelligence can be applied properly and in a lasting way. This article aims to explore the role that Artificial Intelligence could play in plastic surgery, as well as the ethical issues that could arise from its use. Objective: To investigate the barriers involved in introducing Artificial Intelligence into the field of plastic surgery. The subsidiary objectives of this work are to address the ethical aspects related to this issue. Methods: The search was carried out between December 2023 and February 2024 in the following PubMed/MEDLINE databases in order to find articles that answered the research question. All the titles and abstracts found were systematically evaluated. Those that were considered relevant were then read in full to check against the inclusion and exclusion criteria. For each of the studies, a table was drawn up with name of the authors, year and location of publication and the conclusions. Results and Discussion: Eight articles were selected to discuss various points, including the consequences of using Artificial Intelligence in plastic surgery in terms of data protection, privacy, fairness and transparency of algorithms. Conclusion: Being aware of the barriers and ethical dilemmas that arise in the use of Artificial Intelligence in plastic surgery is essential for quality clinical practice. Recognising and tackling these barriers earlier makes it possible to legislate and regulate this area of surgery with technological advances so that safety in clinical practice and patient confidence can be maintained.
