Abstract(s)
The purpose of this article is to contribute to the reflection of the relationship between quality of life at work (QoWL) with self-efficacy and self-esteem. The assumption is that variables such as self-esteem and self-efficacy modify the self-perception of QoWL. This study proposes a theoretical model of mediation for QoWL as a means of studying the type of relationship between self-efficacy, self-esteem and QoWL. An online data collection was carried out from Portuguese workers; 607 responses were analyzed. The results showed that self-efficacy and self-esteem have a significant positive relationship with QoWL. It was also demonstrated that self-efficacy has an indirect effect on QoWL, mediated by selfesteem, and that the joint effect of self-efficacy and self-esteem can positively affect QoWL. The increase in professional self-efficacy changes the self-perception of QoWL, not directly, but through the ability of occupational self-efficacy to increase self-esteem. The results reinforce the sense of the most recent research and translate into implications for research, professional practice and for workers in general.
