Abstract(s)
The current context for organizations is characterized by rapid change and uncertainty, driven by liberalization, deregulation and globalization. In this scenario, the ability to manage knowledge becomes essential to maintain competitiveness and lead to success. Knowledge management is a collective and interactive process involving the sharing of information and attitudes throughout the development of knowledge, playing a key role in creating sustainable competitive advantages. Training and professional development are seen as means by which individuals acquire skills and make their knowledge available for business strategy. The aim of this research is to shed light on the importance of professional training as a strategic knowledge management tool in the development and success of an organization. Given that knowledge transfer is an underexplored phenomenon in Portugal, this research aims to fill this gap from both an academic and practical point of view. This research aims to answer the hypotheses formulated and contribute to understanding the dynamics of knowledge management and professional training in organizations, as well as their relevance to competitiveness and business success. To support the study, data was collected through interviews with those responsible for training in the companies under study and a questionnaire survey of their employees, which was processed in statistical terms. The results obtained from the factor analysis showed that employees understand how important professional training is for acquiring knowledge and developing the company, however, they say that it doesn't increase their knowledge and that the benefits of training are very small. Cluster analysis reinforced the idea that employees believe that training leads to the development of the company, but there is a considerable niche of respondents who devalue training, believing that it does not bring them any benefit, let alone the knowledge they acquire.
