| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: A Cardioversão Elétrica é um método utiliza.do há mais de 50 anos no restabelecimento do ritmo sinusal. É considerado um procedimento altamente eficaz e diminui significativamente o risco de desenvolver futuramente um Acidente Vascular Cerebral por cardioembolismo e Insuficiência Cardíaca por disfunção ventricular esquerda. A cardioversão elétrica eletiva, desempenha um papel fundamental como estratégia de controlo de ritmo e, atualmente, é um método terapêutico preferível em detrimento da cardioversão elét rica imediata, em pacientes estáveis com Fibrilhação Auricular ou Flutter Auricular. Objetivo: O principal objetivo deste estudo é estabeleeer a taxa de sucesso a curto e médio prazo da Cardioversão Elétrica eletiva, averiguar a progressão da eficácia deste procedimento ao longo dos anos e comparar os resultados obt idos com estudos realizados previamente. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo observacional retrospetivo de 100 cardioversões elétricas eletivas, em 97 pacientes, no Serviço de Cardiologia do Centro Hospitalar Universitário da Cova da Beira durante os anos de 2019, 2020 e 2021. Os dados foram recolhidos através do programa SClínicoO, com base nas notas de alta hospitalar criadas pelos cardiologistas responsáveis pela Cardioversão Elétrica. Resultados: A Cardioversão Elétrica obteve sucesso imediato (reversão a ritmo sinusal) em 77 das 100 vezes em que foi realizada (77%). Somente em 34 doentes há registo de seguimento no período de 4 a 6 meses após o restabelecimento do ritmo sinusal e em 26 ocorreu a manutenção deste ritmo (76.5%). Discussão: Este estudo vem, mais uma vez, comprovar a eficácia da Cardioversão Elétrica como estratégia de controlo de ritmo em doentes com fibrilhação e flutter auricular apesar de, a taxa de sucesso imediato ter ficado aquém comparativamente a alguns estudos realizados previamente como por exemplo, o Euro-Heart Su rvey. No entanto, ao longo do período em análise houve um crescimento significativo da eficácia imediata. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Análise aos resultados da Cardioversão Elétrica Electrical Cardiove rsion is a method used for over 50 years to restore sinus rhythm. It is considered a highly effective procedure and significa ntly reduces the risk of developing a stroke due to cardioembolism and heart failure due to left ventricul ar dysfunction in the future. Elective electrical cardioversion plays a key role as a rhythm control strategy and is current1y a preferable therapeutic method over immediate electrical cardioversion in stable patients with Atrial Fibrillation or Atrial Flutter. Objectives: The main objective of this study is to establi sh the success rate in the short and medium term of elective Electrical Cardioversion, to verify the progression of the effectiveness of this procedure over the years and to compare the results obtained with studies carried out previously. Methods: A retrospective observational study of 100 e1ective electrical cardioversions was carried out, in 97 patients, at the Cardiology Service of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário da Cova da Beira during the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. Data were collected using the SClinicoD program, based on hospital discharge notes created by the cardiologists responsible for Electrical Cardioversion. Results: Electrical Cardioversion was immediately successful (reversion to sinus rhythm) in 77 of the 100 times it was performed (77%). Only in 34 patients is there a follow-up record in the period of 4 to 6 months afier the restoration of sinus rhythm and in 26 this rhythm was maintained (76.5%). Discussion: This study proves, once again, the effectiveness of Electrical Cardioversion as a rhythm control strategy in patients \vith atrial fibrillation and flutter, although the immediate success rate has fallen short compared to some studies carried out previously, such as the Euro-Heart Survey.
