| dc.description.abstract | Esta comunicação incide sobre os resultados de uma pesquisa realizada nos distritos de Castelo Branco e Braga através de inquérito por questionário, grupos de foco e entrevistas semidiretivas. Na dita investigação, a relação entre o género e o uso do tempo é um dos temas fulcrais. Tal como afirmam vários autores, o tempo livre designa o tempo não dedicado a responsabilidades e atividades consideradas necessárias, tais como o trabalho remunerado, o trabalho doméstico, os cuidados de outros e os cuidados pessoais. Distingue-se do tempo de lazer, que tende a agregar atividades com elevado índice de prazer e realizadas durante o tempo livre. Neste texto, reflete-se sobre o modo como o tempo livre em família é diferenciado entre homens e mulheres e sobre a forma como essa gendrificação se manifesta e é narrada pelos envolvidos. Pretende-se mostrar que os usos do tempo livre em família evidenciam desigualdades, cuja análise se reveste de enorme relevância no contexto do debate sobre as políticas para a igualdade de género no trabalho e na vida privada. Apresentam-se, neste contexto, diversas abordagens situadas na sociologia da família e do género, e refere-se, igualmente, a importância das classes sociais nos usos do tempo livre. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This paper is based on the results of a research project carried out among families in the districts of Castelo Branco and Braga, which involved the application of a survey, focus group sessions and semi-directive interviews. The relation between gender and time allocation was one of the major areas of analysis. In this text, attention is directed to free time and leisure in the family context. Several authors state that free time is the time not devoted to responsibilities and activities which are considered necessary, such as paid work, household chores, caring for others and personal care. Taking this line of reasoning, free time (or discretionary time) is more comprehensive than leisure, which indicates enjoyable activities performed in the period of free time. The present text discusses gendered access to and use of free time and the way this is narrated by the people concerned. The research findings suggest considerable inequalities according to gender in the amount of free time and the ways of using it. Hence, the high relevance of an analysis of these inequalities to the debate about the policies for gender equality in the professional and private domains becomes apparent. Moreover, this paper, which is basically in the fields of sociology of gender and sociology of the family, provides some indications of the relationship between social class and the use of leisure (or free) time. | pt_PT |
